Small Puller

Job Summary

To heat PVC pipe segments and accurately stretch out the sides for future components to be solvent welded to.

Reports to: Leadperson

Responsibilities

  • Perform setup procedures for the pipe to be worked on.
    • Heater setup i.e. temperature setting, placement.
    • Selection of correct tooling i.e., mandrel, heating pad.
    • Puller shaft limit switch setting.
    • Set machine cooling time according to guidelines provided.
  • Place PVC pipe segment(s) onto heater.
  • When pipe is heated properly, place mandrel into pipe and attach to hydraulic shaft through hole.
  • Cool part down using wet towel.
  • Stretch (pull) the part out so the lip is at least 1/4″ around thepunch hole.
  • After the part has been pulled, remove the mandrel from shaft and pipe segment.
  • Make the part(s) if needed to identify the component part to be solvent welded into the body.
  • Accurately record completed work on production sheet as well as rejects generated onto reject sheet.
  • Clean up work area at the end of the shift (10-15 min max)
  • Follow Safe Operating Procedures and General Safety Rules.
  • Other duties assigned by management.

Essential Function

  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Lifting up to 10lbs, occasionally more.
  • Able to read, understand, and follow instructions, warning labels and postings.
  • Bending and stooping – at the waist and at the knee.
  • Must be able to count.
